Safeguarding
Emmanuel Church is committed to the safeguarding, care and nurture of everyone within our church community. The care and protection of children, young people and adults at risk is the responsibility of everyone who participates in the life of this church. We follow the House of Bishops' Safeguarding Policy and Practice Guidance and the Diocese of Blackburn's safeguarding procedures.

Safer Church
We also display the Promoting a Safer Church poster prominently within our church.
This is on the notice board near the entrace to the hall, along with relevant phone numbers and contact details.
Those working with children and adults at risk have undergone safer recruitment, have received a DBS and received safeguarding training.

If you believe that someone is at risk of immediate harm please call emergencyservices on 999.
Any safeguarding concerns in a parish should be brought to the attention of the PSOs n the first instance.

The PSOs can seek further advice from the Diocesan Safeguarding Team as necessary.
Concerns can also be raised directly with the Diocesan Safeguarding Team

Finding support
We understand reporting abuse may be very difficult and that not everyone may want to contact the church directly.
Safe Spaces is an independent support service providing confidential support to anyone who has been abused by someone in the Church or as a result of their relationship with the Church. Follow the following link for more information.
